Born in Sapporo, Hokkaido. He began playing guitar at the age of 17 and studied at Berklee College of Music in the United States after graduating from high school.
While there, he studied under Wayne Krantz, David Fiuczynski, Mick Goodrick, and others.
In 2005, he received a Special Jury Prize at the Gibson Jazz Guitar Contest 2005.
In 2007, he released his debut album as a leader, "Fuzzy Logic," on the Inter Music (domestic) label.
