[SPECIAL] SIMON PHILLIPS - PROTOCAL 6 [JUNE5,2026] LOSSLESS

HERE IS THE FIRST 2 TRACKS FROM THIS UP-COMING RELEASE.

THANKS TO AFOTS - TD FOR THEM.. THERE IS A VIDEO OF TRACK ON YOUTUBE.

Iconic drummer Simon Phillips is known worldwide for appearances with Toto, The Who, Jeff Beck, Al Di Meola, Hiromi, Stanley Clarke and his own group, Protocol. Simon continues to evolve as a composer on the exciting new Protocol 6 album. As he says, "The material is actually quite different from Protocol V. With the band now in it's sixth year, I was able to write specifically for each player. It's my rock 'n' roll side that dictates the form of each tune, even though the style is definitely jazz-rock. I like to call it progressive jazz." The lineup in this road-tested outfit remains constant except that Phillip Whack now holds down the saxophone chair, playing tenor, alto and soprano with great authority.

Starless – Unpublished Live Selection 1984 - 1988 (1991::2006) LOSSLESS

WHILE GOING THROUGH MY FLAS DRIVES, I HAVE FOUND QUITE A FEW RARE, OR LITTLE POSTED RELEASES THAT I WILL START POSTING.....

Japanese band STARLESS was formed in 1984, and following a succesfull demo the same year they released their debut album Silver Wings in 1985. The following year Yoshiko Miyamoto left the band, and was replaced by Hiroko Nishigaki. By 1988 Starless went into hiatus following a few but active years that saw them established as one of Japan's premier progressive rock bands.

The halt in activites wouldn't last for long however, andd following the release of the live album Unpublished Live Selection '84. '88 a new line-up was assembled, and in 1992 their second studio effort Song of Silence saw the light of day. Three years later the EP Wish followed, after which Starless would disband.

20 years after the formation of Starless a live DVD with footage from 1986 was released, and around the same time the band would reassemble again. Several live appearences followed in the next few years, and in 2007 a new studio production was released: Starless IV: Story Never Ends. An album release tour and various standalone concerts followed. For the last few years their websitye haven't seen any news updates, and it is likely that Starless is in another period of inactivity at this point.

1. Change Me into the Wind (7:18)

2. Abyss (6:01)

3. To the South (4:39)

4. Stage (8:43)

5. Waitin' in Vain (3:26)

6. Glass Dust (5:07)

7. Wish (5:58)

The Resonance Project - S/T & AD ASTRA BOTH LOSSLESS

"Progressive metal is an open minded platform, solid enough that we can build up on it freely, and broad enough to carry a vast dimension of expression and musicality. So when a spark of idea appears, all techniques, skills and available styles of music become tools that we can use to carefully grow the spark into something beyond expectation. We are musicians, and our job is to create the best music at the moment we can.

I am lucky and grateful to be in this wonderful team with Yas and Ziyin. Together we made this project into reality.

I want to thank my parents, family and friends for their endless love and support, and Rob Carson and Matt Garstka for the inspiration, motivation and their mentoring over all these years."

- Lang Zhao

"Lang and I have been trying to put a project together for several years, and now it’s finally here.

We had many guest musicians that are also our good friends. I’m very grateful to be able to create music with these outstanding musicians.

I’d like to say thank you to Lang, Ziyin, my parents, family, friends and all the people that have supported me over the years.

Hope you enjoy the album."

[HI RES]T-SQUARE +- WELCOME BACK! MASATO HONDA [2023] (rp)

AS REQUESTED..

Masato Honda returns to T-SQUARE for the first time in 24 years! Double Saxophone!

Masato Honda, who left T-SQUARE in 1998, is back on the T-SQUARE stage after 24 years!

The prize is a record of the last day of his performance at Mitsui Hall in Nihonbashi, Tokyo, where he returned.

Former member Keiji Matsumoto (Key) will continue to participate in the stage as last year, and at the end of the main story, a secret guest, Takahiro Miyazaki (Sax), will also appear! On the stage, three former saxophone players, Takeshi Ito, Masato Honda, and Takahiro Miyazaki, gathered, and the excitement was at its peak, making it a valuable stage.

In 2023, 45 years after his professional debut with THE SQUARE, we are looking forward to an even more fun and enjoyable stage.

You don't know what will pop out, and you can't take your eyes off it, T-SQUARE's march continues.

The Folie Phantom -EDEN [2021] EP LOSSLESS

The Folie Phantom is a brass-rock/jazz-rock instrumental band formed in 2019.

With an energetic and dynamic sound that fuses jazz and rock, mainly wind instruments, he is developing live activities all over the country, mainly in Tokyo.

This work is a nostalgic and rhythmic song inspired by the dance step "popcorn" of the 70s.

It is characterized by a catchy melody line played by euphonium and saxophone, and has a charm that naturally shakes the listener's body to the rhythm.

This song, which will also be included in their 4th album "Legacy" to be released on 5/6, is one song that allows you to feel the band's playfulness and sophisticated sound making at the same time.

Billy Cobham's Glassmenagerie* – Stratus [1981::2006] LOSSLESS

Limited Compact Disc Reference Edition

 Fusion, Contemporary Jazz, Jazz-Rock

This is the companion disc to Flight Time, which was also recorded for the Inakustik label. While not quite as original as its predecessor, it is still highly recommended. A young Mike Stern had not completely developed his sound yet, but he's still unmistakable. Violinist Michal Urbaniak's presence gives Cobham classics like "Stratus," "AC/DC," and "Total Eclipse" a fresh sound. Here again, Cobham is more than willing to let his colleagues step to the forefront and offer up their unique ideas, some better than other (Gil Goldstein's "Wrapped in a Cloud" is enchanting while Landers' reggae offering, "All Hallows Eve," falls flat). The biggest disappointment here are the short song lengths, especially the early fadeout on "Brooze," but hearing Cobham and Stern together make this an essential recording for jazz-rock fans.

[HI RES] Herbie Hancock – Secrets

Fusion, Jazz-Funk

Secrets is a jazz-funk fusion album by keyboard player Herbie Hancock. It is Hancock's seventeenth album and features saxophonist Bennie Maupin and guitarist Wah Wah Watson.

Secrets (1976) is a Jazz-Funk fusion album by acclaimed keyboard player Herbie Hancock. Following up on his previous album Man-Child, the album again features Paul Jackson on bass, and reedist Bennie Maupin continued to provide most of the solos alongside Hancock. Man-Child had seen the addition of electric guitar to Hancock's sound, and Secrets saw the guitar's place in the arrangements rise to crucial importance throughout. The flamboyant rhythm guitar contributions of top Motown session musician Wah Wah Watson are a particularly notable feature of the album. Where Man-Child was evenly divided between up-tempo and laid-back tracks, Secrets emphasised the more mellow, softly rounded mood. Even the more up-tempo tracks, "Doin' It" and "Cantaloupe Island", are suffused with a relaxed Caribbean influence, and overall the album tends towards restrained, rolling grooves rather than overtly hig

The album clearly followed from its predecessor Man-Child. As ever, Paul Jackson's basslines were present, and the other regular member Bennie Maupin continued to provide most of the solos alongside Hancock. Man-Child had seen the addition of electric guitar to Hancock's sound, which was retained on Secrets. The rhythm guitar of Motown session musician Wah Wah Watson is a notable feature of the album.

2 RELEASES FROM 'Christian Gálvez' COLOURS [MAR16,2026] H.R. & Christian Gálvez Trio - LIVE [2024] LOSSLESS

Christian Gálvez has been a transversal name in the history of Chilean jazz since the mid-1990s, when he appeared as a diamond in the rough on the electric bass, with a personal look at fusion music, jazz improvisation and sound. Later he would be key in the transformation of the instrument, its qualities and its functions, as a promoter and exponent of the technique called "chordmelody". This is the reconciliation of the harmonic and melodic role of the instrument, which he added to the rhythmic aspect, and which he had begun to explore at the end of the 2000s with various projects and various formats of his bands. Gálvez is one of the most resonant names in Chilean jazz in the international world, playing hand in hand with figures of fusion, jazz rock and modern jazz such as Stanley Clarke, Billy Cohman, Ron Carter, Eddie Gomez or John Patitucci. A prolific creator, composer, leader, sideman, cultural manager and educator, he is also the founder of the first of the truly independent jazz labels in our country: Pez Records. In 2018 he won the President of the Republic National Music Award.
