ADAM HOLZMAN - ZOMBIE APOCALYPSE [2025] LOSSLESS
Adam Holzman’s new solo album, Zombie Apocalypse, is a throwback to the ‘keyboard wizard’ albums of the 70’s and 80’s, a more experimental time in music. It is an electronic exploration of the bridge between jazz, ambient and progressive rock, featuring mostly piano, synthesizer and extensive use of electronics. Rhythmic elements are a combination of analog synthesis and live percussion.
Featured guest is rising star Randy McStine, who sings and plays guitar on a powerful version of Peter Gabriel's "Here Comes The Flood.” Other special guests include Ofer Assaf on sax, Arjun Bruggemen on tabla drums and Jane Getter on guitar. It also has a snazzy album cover designed by the great Hajo Mueller!
Zombie Apocalypse is a unique album for Adam. It is a mosaic of colors and textures, and is both ambient and high energy, with a hint of social commentary. Zombie Apocalypse sits at the mid-point between jazz and electronica.

THIS IS A 2 CD SET FROM THE BGO LABEL, BGOCD799 [2008]
THIS IS A 2CD SET, REMASTERED AND REISSUED AS SUCH BY BGO LABEL [BGO CD799 [2008]
FROM AWHILE AGO,THANKS TO CRIMHEAD420 [https://jazz-rock-fusion-guitar.blogspot.com]
Anyone who is into jazz, jazz/fusion, I am sure remembers these as individual records. I loved them both, but I like Chick Corea & Return To Forever. For me, I think this was some of their finer material. You can get it from Amazon as both original records on disc,so for me I was replacing 2 old LP's. I already knew what I was getting. It is great to have it on cd. Some of the material for the recent comeback on the live disc is also available from Amazon. I certainly give this 5 stars, I love both of these as individual lp's so replacing on cd especially these 2 on was disc, is a good value, & great music.
This release is far superior than the 1980's Polydor releases. There is more DETAIL, instrument seperation, fullness and finally...more BOTTOM. Yes, you can finally hear Lenny's kick drum and his toms have weight, Stanley's basses and Chick's bass synth/low-end synth playing. Also, you can hear Di Meola's comping and Chick's layers of keys/synths. This is like going from VHS to Blu-Ray and I know this music-I have been listening to these (over and over and...) since the earlier 80's on vinyl, then got the horrible CD issues around 1990 and now this.

RETURN TO FOREVER -NO MYSTERY [1975/2008]
No Mystery (1975) is the fifth studio album by jazz-rock fusion band Return to Forever.
All members of the group contributed compositions to this album. Side A contains heavily funk-influenced material composed by each member of the group, whereas Side B is filled by Chick Corea compositions. Chick Corea won the Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Jazz Performance, Individual or Group Grammy Award in 1975 for this album.[4] "Flight of the Newborn" is Di Meola's first recorded composition. Di Meola's solos are an early example of shredding.
Stanley Clarke would later re-record "Dayride" with background vocals for his solo album, Modern Man, released in 1978. Likewise, Al Di Meola re-recorded a longer version of "No Mystery" for his solo album World Sinfonia in 1991
"Dayride" (Clarke) – 3:25

After the album "T-Square", the band disbanded, but dramatically the original member, Takeshi Itoh, returned. At this point, the OB members in their prime gathered as a one-time group to form THE SQUARE, which was limited to two days, and held a concert to commemorate the 20th anniversary of Kobe Chicken George. An album that contains the live situation of the time without missing any songs.

The Poseidon label will never stop astonishing US ! Jointly with Musea, it's mentor Hiroshi MASUDA contributes greatly to give a second breath to the so-called Progressive rock Japanese scene. His new discovery is named Frogflavor, and how good this one is ! Led by bass-player Hiroyuki SEKINE, this instrumental power-trio greeted guitarist Issei TAKAMI (BANDVIVIL) and jazz drummer Toru KUBOTA. These three lads are not only excellent technicians, they are musicians full of feeling and inventiveness. And that's what they demonstrate during each of the twelve compositions of their first album "Space of Magic" (2006). This jazz-rock fusion music borrows much to KING CRIMSON, particularly the guitar riffs, which are very sensible. The bass lines, often slapped, borrow in turn very much to funk. If you add to this surprising cocktail a touch of heavy-metal, you will obtain a unique music, both complex and accessible, with remarkable originality. One more essential discovery !

THANKS TO AVGFOTS - MUSICAOLON
The progressive jazz rock band "NOA" was formed in January 1987 as a trio consisting of Hirofumi Mitoma (guitar), Takao Ozeki (bass), and Ichiro Takesako (drums).
Their sound was heavily influenced by the solo work of Allan Holdsworth and Bill Bruford, and their original album "Tri-Logic" (pronounced "try-logic"), released on vinyl at the time, was featured in the self-released albums section of the May 1987 issue of the monthly magazine "Player."
After the addition of Hisashi Iijima (keyboards) in 1992, the band's musical style gradually shifted, and they began to include symphonic rock compositions.
Following Iijima's sudden death in October 2007, the band ceased public performances after a memorial concert in April 2008. However, they resumed live performances on August 13, 2016, with a joint concert with the progressive jazz rock band "QUI" at Hey Joe in Yokohama.
With the addition of a keyboardist, their current sound has naturally changed significantly since their formation as a trio, and now appeals to general music fans as well as progressive rock fans.
Progressive Jazz Rock Band “NOA” was formed on January 1987 by Ichiro John Paul Takesako, who is at this moment still remaining as its member, drums/percussion and acting manager, by following its predecessor “Ichiro Takesako Group” with Hirofumi Mitoma on Guitar, Takao Ozeki on Bass.
Influenced by Allan Holdsworth, Bill Bruford and other so-called Jazz Rock sound, they produced 1st studio recording album “Tri-Logic” on May 1987, which reviewed by May 1987 issue of “Player”, one of the largest published music magazine at that moment, as “establishing very unique position among the other independent rock music”.

In October 2022, the first female fusion band in the crossover fusion genre, "Muses", debuted. In 2023, they released their second album "Goddess of Victory". This time, we will produce and release a third mini album. Rie a.k.a. on guitar is steadily increasing its fans around the world with its stable playing power. This time, the catch continues to be cheerful and bright instrumental songs. We have created sounds that are familiar and match different scenes. With the theme of Japan's four seasons, each member will compose one song with the theme of each season, and five songs will be included, including a comprehensive song, "Four Seasons". Don't miss out and taste the delicious sounds.

Nobuo UEMATSU is a well-known music composer whom most gaming fans associate with the long lasting "Final Fantasy" franchise. But calling UEMATSU a game composer would certainly be an understatement since he's been a self-proclaimed progressive music fan and cited bands like EMERSON, LAKE & PALMER and KING CRIMSON as major influences on his work. With that in mind, UEMATSU ventured into the world of instrumental rock music with his band THE BLACK MAGES back in 2002. Eight years on and three prog metal inspired album releases later, Nobuo UEMATSU announced the disbandment of his musical project. Luckily, this was far from the end of his exploration of the rock music format as he continued to perform prog metal arrangements of his music as a part of another band - the EARTHBOUND PAPAS.
EARTHBOUND PAPAS consists of Michio OKAMIYA and Arata HANYUDA, who both were members of the previous project. The two new members are Tsutomu NARITA and Yoshitaka HIROTA. Their first album "Octave Theory" shows many similarities with THE BLACK MAGES output. Released in March 2011, the music is comprised of a crossover between progressive metal, heavy prog and symphonic prog. Most of compositions are new versions of Nobuo's previously released solo material, but there are also a few new compositions here as well.
Recommended for fans of instrumental genre-bending progressive music!
1. Introduction (Octopus Theory) (6:35)
2. Liberi Fatali (From FINAL FANTASY VIII) (4:49)
3. Advent: One-Winged Angel (From FINAL FANTASY VII Advent Children) (6:13)

5. Metal Hypnotized (5:12)
6. Eternity (From BLUE DRAGON) (4:47)
7. The Forest Of A Thousand Years (6:03)
8. Bo-Kon-Ho-Ko (From LOST ODYSSEY) (5:56)

Colors of a Journey" is a full-length work by New York-based trumpeter/arranger Naoya Ogura. This is a big band work produced with world-class top players, who gathered together to "play this music" and immerse themselves in Ogura's musical world with overwhelming performance skills and passion. The arrangements of five originals and four standards, each featuring the distinctive personality of each player, including bassist Joe Martin, captivate the audience with their contemporary and colorful sound, while keeping the jazz tradition in mind. The fantastic melody of the opening track, "Moon," evokes emotion and excitement, taking the listener on a grand sonic journey throughout the album. Produced by Michael Philip Mossman, the album also includes liner notes by leading drummer/arranger Dennis Mackrel. A must-listen for jazz fans in Japan and abroad alike, this is a masterpiece that allows you to experience world-class performances and Naoya Ogura's unique musical world in its entirety.
